Until November 9th only: Along with raising funds for research for all cancers, the Canadian Cancer Society provides transportation and support for those living with cancer. Our Wheels of Hope campaign raises funds to ensure that this program continues to support those in need. It is especially vital for people without vehicles or a license, with no local family or friends to help, nor the financial means to make the often daily trips to their appointments.
In order to continue offering this invaluable service to the Ottawa community, we need your help!
The need for the Society’s Transportation Program is growing with an average monthly increase of 25 new clients. Last year alone, our volunteer drivers helped 15,500 patients in Ontario and drove more than 12 million kilometres, a distance that is equivalent to driving around the world almost 300 times. In Ottawa alone our drivers made over 2,990 trips and the need continues to increase.
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, the Canadian Cancer Society has been helping patients travel to their cancer-specific medical appointments for over 50 years. Our Transportation Program is the only one of its kind in Ontario to provide assistance to those living with cancer.
Your contribution helps the Society make the road to recovery a little easier for cancer patients and their families.
We would like to thank Carling Mazda, Bytek Volkswagen, Carling Volvo and St. Laurent Volvo for generously supporting the Wheels of Hope campaign through their test-drive donation program. Learn more about their program at http://www.automondial.ca/wheels_hope/
