Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC) in Toronto has received information that someone in Ottawa is soliciting door to door for funds to be directed towards prostate cancer. I confirmed that Prostate Cancer Canada Network Ottawa (PCCNO) is not associated with any such activity and never will. Likewise, PCC does not do this. It is possible that the PCC logo is associated with this scam as it could be pulled from the website.
This may not be pervasive but it is worth knowing this should anything like this come to your attention.
Chair - PCCNO
We are sharing two items that came to our attention recently.
Of particular interest is the article that was written in the Winchester Press on our own Doug Nugent and his wife Kathy. What a great message and it is an indication of the fine work being done by the Black Walnut Prostate group in Winchester. Of course, Doug is Vice Chair on our PCCN Ottawa Board of Directors. These pieces are worth the read.
It’s Party Time Again, 2018 December 20!
It has been another successful and productive year for PCCN Ottawa thanks to the fantastic support from our members and our excellent Board of Directors. It’s time to celebrate!
Message from the Chair - PCCNO
This month’s general meeting is going to be a special one as the PCCNO Board will present its Strategic Plan for the future of the organization.
The November 15 meeting starts at 6:30PM with a meet n’ greet and an opportunity to chat and catch up with other members. The presentation will begin around 7:30PM or thereabouts.
As a preview, the following is a special message from the board chair, Larry Peckford. We encourage you to click on the link to the set of charts that presents the high-level view of our plan.
Hello and thanks for stopping by!
Welcome to PCCN Ottawa’s new website! After months of effort and coming together, we are very excited to announce the launch of our redesigned site. The new website is part of our strategy to improve our outreach to current and new members, as well as supporters. Take a look around - and stay a while!

Online Androgen Deprivation Therapy Educational Program
PCCNO has been notified by Carly Sears of Alberta Health Services about a national, online educational program that is now available for prostate cancer patients who are about to start or have been on androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). The program is hosted by the Prostate Cancer Centre in Calgary and is currently supported by Astellas and AbbVie.
