Prostate Cancer Canada Network Ottawa (PCCNO) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 29 via Zoom. Despite some limitations in operations caused by COVID-19, PCCNO has continued its support to members and the community at large. Business conducted at the AGM included approval of directors elected to the Board, Chair and Treasurer’s reports and the commitment for a continuation of PCCNO’s mandate in the year ahead.
Following the AGM the Board of Directors met to elect officers for the following term. Elected are Al Carl -Chair, Doug Nugent- Vice chair, Secretary- Michelle Faber and Treasurer- Dean Avery. Outgoing Chair Larry Peckford holds the ex-officio position of Past Chair.
Al Carl joined the Board of PCCNO this past year. He led the organization by successfully delivering PCCNO’s second prostate cancer conference in 2019. Al demonstrates a strong background in leadership positions in a career as an officer with the Canadian Armed Forces and as an Information Technology Project Manager. For 10 years, Al served on the Board of Directors of the Project Management Institute.
PCCNO is a voluntary organization made of men and women committed to supporting men and their families dealing with prostate cancer. PCCNO is an open membership organization that seeks to network with organizations with similar goals and objectives. It has been successful in working cooperatively with the Ottawa medical community and has contributed financially to prostate cancer research.
